[00:00:00] Speaker A: Well, I am in the studio with someone who I haven't seen in person and I don't know how long. Pastor Jason Palmer. How long has it been?
[00:00:09] Speaker B: It's been some years. It's been at least 13 years.
[00:00:13] Speaker A: At least. I know that you started a church. I remember getting the invitation to your inaugural. Your church has been here since you told me.
[00:00:23] Speaker B: Since 2014.
[00:00:24] Speaker A: 2014.
[00:00:25] Speaker B: The name of the church is Goodness and Mercy Church.
[00:00:28] Speaker A: So you, while you were getting ready for this, people knew you as JP and Season.
[00:00:36] Speaker B: Correct.
[00:00:36] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:00:37] Speaker B: Jason Palmer, you have a great memory. I love it.
[00:00:39] Speaker A: I'm trying, I'm trying. But you had a song out. We've talked to each other when I worked in the other building.
[00:00:45] Speaker B: Oh, yes.
[00:00:46] Speaker A: And you were doing music. Absolutely. And then you stopped. Why?
[00:00:50] Speaker B: I stopped, honestly, so that I could focus more so on the ministry aspect. Not saying that music is not ministry, but my preaching ministry, the pulpit ministry, ministry within sight, the four walls.
[00:01:04] Speaker A: Right.
[00:01:05] Speaker B: Just building discipleship.
[00:01:07] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. And that was important to you, I assume?
[00:01:10] Speaker B: Oh, yes.
[00:01:11] Speaker A: In the very beginning. Because how do you, you know, get this church going?
[00:01:15] Speaker B: Absolutely. You know, when you start a ministry, it's very parallel or similar to a baby. You know, it's like a newborn baby, you know what I'm saying? So a newborn baby needs a lot of your attention. You get what I'm saying? And so that's what I had to do. I had to focus on the planting of a new ministry, a new church.
[00:01:37] Speaker A: So how's it going?
[00:01:39] Speaker B: It's going great now. Not that it was ever going bad, but it's going good. I mean, I'm at a place where, you know, if you understand ministry, the church can take care of itself.
[00:01:49] Speaker A: Oh, good.
[00:01:49] Speaker B: To where? Now it makes sense why God will give me, you know, the go ahead to come out and do music again. Because the church is self sufficient now. I have elders in place. I have ministers in place. I have deacons in place. Good.
[00:02:04] Speaker A: Yes, yes.
[00:02:04] Speaker B: I can come to the radio station with the living legend, Dr. You know, Randy Miles. You get what I'm saying? And not worry about is the church gonna fall apart because I'm not there.
[00:02:13] Speaker A: Right, right. Oh, man, I love watching this progress for you. But it was JP and Seasons, Jason Palmer and Seasons. Now it's JP and Nim. Who's them?
[00:02:27] Speaker B: You know what? And this is crazy because this is the number one question that we're asked. Everybody wanna know who the NIM is. As my manager would say, whoever I decide to bring with me that day, gotcha.
[00:02:40] Speaker A: Long as they know the song.
[00:02:41] Speaker B: Yeah, long as they know the song and their parts. Nim includes the musicians, Nim includes the background singers. You get what I'm saying? Nim even includes my manager, my assistant. It doesn't matter. JP and Nim. But we purposely, marketing wise, didn't wanna put a face to Nim because Nim is subject to change.
[00:03:04] Speaker A: Got it. Got it. And you know, it's just like being at Mama Nim's. You don't know who's gonna be, who's all gonna show up, but you know.
[00:03:12] Speaker B: Mama gonna be there. We don't know who the nim is, but JP gonna be there.
[00:03:16] Speaker A: JP's gonna be there. TT Nim.
[00:03:19] Speaker B: Yep, yep. Randy, Nim, Asian Nim, Damo and Nim. JP and Nim. It's gonna be all them.
[00:03:24] Speaker A: And Nim, I absolutely love it when you inbox me with this song. And man, I heard it in its almost ready state.
[00:03:34] Speaker B: Correct.
[00:03:35] Speaker A: And I'm like, dude, when you get this song ready, wow. Get in here. Tell me about Just Like Fire.
[00:03:43] Speaker B: So Just Like Fire literally has only been out unofficially three weeks. And that's what you're referring to.
[00:03:50] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:03:51] Speaker B: But officially it's only been out on all digital platforms for about two weeks now. And literally, God gave me a dream. I believe that was February 28th. It was a Friday.
And then I hit up my partner who's A part of A and M, Eric Pruitt, who's one of my producers. And I said, hey, man. I said, God gave me one. And I knew it was God. You know the difference between when you came up with something, you know. Cause God gave us give us creative ability.
[00:04:23] Speaker A: Absolutely.
[00:04:24] Speaker B: But you know when you came up with something and you know when God gave you something?
[00:04:27] Speaker A: Absolutely.
[00:04:27] Speaker B: You know the difference between a spiritual download and. So I'll be the first to tell you, I'm not a dreamer. And when I had this dream and I woke up that Friday morning, I remembered this dream, you know, detailed.
[00:04:40] Speaker A: Wow.
[00:04:41] Speaker B: This song I was singing in the dream. And I know I never heard this before. Wow. And so the joke. But the truth is, I got so excited in my dream that I woke up before I sung the vamp in the dream. And so I tried to go back to sleep, Randy. And that did not work. So when I went to the studio that Monday, so had the dream that Friday, went in the studio that Monday, recorded it at 11am By 4pm, I was done with the whole song.
[00:05:08] Speaker A: Oh, wow.
[00:05:09] Speaker B: Sent it to Snoop. You know Snoop that played the bass for Fred Hammond? And everybody, Martha Minutt sent it to Kenny Rocket. You know, played with Ezra Houghton and all them. You get what I'm saying? They sent all the files back before 12 midnight that same day.
[00:05:22] Speaker A: Get out.
[00:05:23] Speaker B: That's how I knew it was God.
[00:05:25] Speaker A: And so when I hear the song.
[00:05:27] Speaker B: Before you notice, top a list musician, Skip me from the producers, you know what I'm saying?
[00:05:34] Speaker A: And this is what we're talking about off the air. How when those pieces come together and it's done with the spirit of excellence.
[00:05:44] Speaker B: And professionalism, there you go.
[00:05:45] Speaker A: It just takes off. And it is just like Fire, man.
[00:05:49] Speaker B: I keep hearing that and people saying, ironically speaking, your song is fire. I'm like, thank you.
[00:05:55] Speaker A: Let's listen to it on the Detroit Phrase Network. Oh, Lord.
[00:06:01] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:06:03] Speaker A: Just like fire.
[00:06:05] Speaker B: Yes. Come on and sing. We got.
[00:06:08] Speaker A: It's Jason Ballmer.
[00:06:09] Speaker B: That mean that you can be a part of anonymity?
[00:06:11] Speaker A: I can be in them.
[00:06:12] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:06:13] Speaker A: Get.
[00:06:13] Speaker B: Yes. So if I ever see you at a situation I'm doing.
[00:06:17] Speaker A: Oh, yes.
[00:06:17] Speaker B: I'm bringing you to Mikey.
[00:06:18] Speaker A: Learn my alto part. Cause, Jason, I have enjoyed having you in the studio. And just like Fire is out now.
[00:06:30] Speaker B: Yes, it's out. It's available on all digital platforms.
And just to keep up with the latest news or whatever we got coming up next, you can follow us on Facebook. Our Facebook page is J, P an nem. It's the and sign.
[00:06:48] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:06:48] Speaker B: And then nem is spelled N E.
[00:06:50] Speaker A: M N E M. Right.
[00:06:51] Speaker B: On Instagram, kind of the same thing. But Instagram doesn't allow you to put the and symbol. You get what I'm saying? So we had to spell it out. So it's the same thing as far as JP and then a N, D Nim. And then our YouTube page is the same as Facebook because it allows you to put the and sign. So it's jpnim.
[00:07:09] Speaker A: Ooh wee. Y'all better follow my brother, because I think that this is gonna take off. I receive it because I just, you know, I'm not one of those people that, you know, as soon as I hear a song, I'm like, yeah, yeah, I gotta hear it.
[00:07:25] Speaker B: I gotta feel it.
[00:07:26] Speaker A: But it's just like the first bar.
[00:07:28] Speaker B: Wow. I keep hearing that.
[00:07:30] Speaker A: Randy, come on. So I'm so excited for your future.
[00:07:33] Speaker B: Thank you so much.
[00:07:34] Speaker A: And I am so excited for your.
[00:07:36] Speaker B: Church, which is, again, goodness and mercy. Church.
[00:07:38] Speaker A: When can we come?
[00:07:40] Speaker B: So check this out. We got options, okay? God has been blessing us. You knew me before I had a church. You knew me before I was a pastor. That's how far back we go. But God has blessed the ministry to take off to where we have multiple locations. We did it. Have three locations. I sold one to another pastor. That's what apostles do. You understand that? You get what I'm saying? We plant, we build.
But we have a west side location in Detroit, and then we have an east side location in Detroit. Our Sunday services for Goodness and Mercy Church west starts at 11am and that's on Finkel, in between Linwood and Dexter. 3225 Finkel. It's the old obedient Baptist Church, if you got any roots around here.
And then they have a midweek service every Thursday at 7pm so it's like we call it a Sunday on a Thursday.
[00:08:29] Speaker A: I love it.
[00:08:29] Speaker B: And then our east campus starts every Sunday at 12:30pm okay. And then their midweek service is every Wednesday at 7pm Wow.
[00:08:37] Speaker A: I absolutely love it. It is a pleasure to see you and Asia, man, it's been a while.
[00:08:43] Speaker B: It's been a while, and I feel like a kid. You get what I'm saying? Just being back here, you know?
[00:08:47] Speaker A: Like, I absolutely love it as well. Well, thank you so much. And again, I am so excited for your future. And I love you. You know that.
[00:08:54] Speaker B: I love you, too. Thank you so much for having me. I greatly appre.
