Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey is David E. Talbert’s first movie musical ever, but his background as a playwright, producer and director prepared him for what will soon be a Christmas classic for families everywhere.
I asked David how different was it to do a movie musical compared to other movies he’s done and how it compared to his playwright background? We also chatted about the heavy hitters in Jingle Jangle including Forest Whitaker, Phylicia Rashad and Detroit’s own Keegan-Michael Key and why this movie… 20-years in the making… was so important for him to release.
A whimsical movie about believing in you even when all seems lost, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey is filled with lots of twists and turns along with lots of black girl magic too.
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey is now streaming on Netflix. Find out what my favorite scene is in the movie and more about David E. Talbert’s “journey” to making this new Christmas Classic here:
